I started working on this project in the very beginning of September. It’s been such a struggle and a process. The subject is “depression/anxiety”. What depression and anxiety is to me.. 

Sexual assault also plays a large role in these pieces (hence the hands)

Hands represent anxiety, depression, pain, passion, evil, manipulation and fear to me. But… they can also be kind, warm and gentle. I wanted to take that contrast and see what it would look like on a canvas. There’s such a deep love hate relationship with hands for me. 

I wanted to choose a subject where I can take out all of that fear and put it onto a canvas and out of my system. I’ve also incorporated famous art pieces and religion to make it “more relatable” in a way, or connect my paintings to old traditions.
